Abstract
This research evaluates the impact of the Make A Match cooperative learning model on the reading comprehension abilities of fourthgrade students at SDN 1 Gudang. The methodology includes a comparison between an experimental class using this learning model and a control class employing conventional lecture methods. Based on the post-test results, Class IV B, the experimental group, showed an average score increase of 83.23, while Class IV A, the control group, achieved an average score of 51.9. Statistical analysis using the t-test revealed that the calculated t-value of 11.468 is greater than the table t-value of 2.00, indicating a significant difference between the learning outcomes of the two groups. This finding suggests that the Make A Match cooperative learning model has a significant positive effect on improving students' reading comprehension abilities compared to conventional teaching methods. From this study, the implementation of the Make A Match cooperative learning model has a greater impact on enhancing fourth-grade students' reading comprehension skills than conventional lecture methods. This research provides empirical evidence of the effectiveness of the cooperative learning model in the context of Indonesian language education at SDN 1 Gudang.
