Abstract

SMPN 4 Panarukan Situbondo is one of the junior high schools located near the coast of Muara Kasih Beach, Gelung Village. The majority of students who attend are the children of fishermen and rengginang craftsmen. The drying process is carried out by drying directly under the sun. Drying places in the field or on the side of the highway, so that dust and dirt enter the food which causes the food to become less hygienic. To overcome this problem, we conducted training at school on how to make a simple solar cooker for drying processed fish. Besides being more hygienic, this tool does not require additional fuel. The method uses direct training with the target students of SMPN 4 Panarukan Situbondo. By training these students, it is hoped that they will be able to continue the knowledge they have acquired and apply it in their respective homes, which is a home industry for fish processing. The training for making the solar cooker went smoothly. The students were enthusiastic about participating in the training until they were able to make their solar cooker and directly tested the performance. We hope that students can apply the use of this tool so that they can improve the quality of processed fish in the home industry around SMPN 4 Panarukan Situbondo.
