Abstract

The Sumberkolak River is located in Sumberkolak Village, Panarukan District, Situbondo Regency. The Sumberkolak River is a river flow that is directly related to population activities that can have an impact on ecosystems in the waters. To assess the condition of river waters, tests were carried out using physical parameters (temperature, turbidity, TSS and TDS), chemistry (pH and DO) and biology (Biomonitoring). The purpose of this study was to determine the river water quality, macroinvertebrate community structure and the relationship between macroinvertebrate structure and river water quality in Sumberkolak Village. This study used a descriptive quantitative approach and was carried out in an experimental laboratory to analyze physical, chemical and biological parameters. Determination of sampling points using purposive sampling method. This research was conducted in 3 parts of the river namely upstream, midstream and downstream. The results of the water quality in the parameter test from the upstream to the downstream section experienced a decrease in quality as indicated by several physical and chemical parameters that did not meet predetermined quality standards. Based on the assessment of the water quality status by conducting data analysis, it shows that the river water in Sumberkolak Village is included in the slightly polluted category. In addiction, the results of the study showed that the structure of macroinvertebrates and the quality of river water in Sumberkolak Village had a close relationship because there were different compositional changes from upstream to downstream.
