Abstract

This study aims to analyze and examine the direct and indirect effects of work discipline and motivation on employee performance through job satisfaction as an intervening variable. The object of this study focuses on village apparatuses in Mlandingan District, Situbondo Regency, which includes Selomukti Village, Sumber Pinang Village, and Mlandingan Kulon Village. The method used in this research is a quantitative approach. The population includes all 32 active village apparatuses across the three village offices. Sampling was carried out using a probability sampling technique with a proportionate stratified random sampling approach (census/saturated sampling), making all 32 village apparatuses respondents in this study. Data collection techniques were conducted through observation, literature review, interviews, questionnaires (1–5 Likert scale), and documentation. The collected data was processed using SmartPLS 3.0 software, which included outer model evaluation (convergent validity and reliability tests), classical assumption tests, Goodness of Fit (GoF) tests, the coefficient of determination (R 2 ), and structural equation modeling (inner model) using the bootstrapping method. The coefficient of determination (R 2 ) shows that 58.4% of the variance in job satisfaction can be explained by work discipline and motivation. Meanwhile, 69.2% of the variance in village apparatus performance can be explained jointly by work discipline, motivation, and job satisfaction, with the remaining percentage explained by variables outside the model.
