Abstract

This study aims to analyze and find out how much direct and indirect influence the variables competence (X1), work motivation (X2), strategic leadership (X3) have on lecturer performance through organizational commitment (Z) as an intervening variable in private universities in the Besuki residency which is accredited B. The problem in this research is the performance of the lecturers themselves which has an impact on the performance of foundation institutions and of course will also result in delays in carrying out the tri dharma of higher education. In this study, there were 200 samples which included all lecturers at private universities in the Besuki residency using the selection according to the same accreditation, namely B accreditation. This study used a simple random sampling method with random or haphazard techniques. Data analysis used in this study is descriptive statistical analysis and AMOS Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) and don't forget to use the Sobel test. The results of this study areCompetence has a significant positive effect on lecturer organizational commitment, Motivation has a significant positive effect on lecturer organizational commitment, Strategic leadership has a significant positive effect on lecturer organizational commitment, Competence has a positive but not significant effect on lecturer performance, Motivation has no significant positive effect on lecturer performance, Strategic Leadership has a significant positive effect on lecturer performance, Organizational Commitment has a significant positive effect on lecturer performance, commitment organization cannot be an intervening variable from the influence of competence on lecturer performance, commitment organization cannot be an intervening variable from the influence of work motivation on lecturer performance, and commitment organization cannot be an intervening variable from the influence of strategic leadership on lecturer performance.
